Tjillari Justice has been fortunate to be included in the Magabala Books Small Seeds program which supports early childhood literacy and ensures children across Australia have access to culturally relevant books. Magabala Books provides gift book packs to organisations where children may have limited access to books.
The Seeds program works as follow:
- Magabala Books sends us a range of children’s books for offenders to read to their children.
- We record fathers reading to their children
- Children are provided with the books and the sound of their father reading it to them.
This program creates impact in two ways: It is a way of teaching literacy to both the fathers and the children; and it gives them a purpose for learning to read.
